Finds

I go thrifting often. I have a list of things that I want to find and I know that I have to go often to find things. I have gotten a few of the things on my list, like the lamps and finial, and of course to many great things not on my list. Last week, while Jake was away at school, having one less child felt like a freedom so we quickly headed out shopping. Didn't find anything on my list, but found quite a few other treasures. Two flute music books (never find these) for only 75 cents each and they were good books, a cute cupcake stand, a Darth Tater, a new package of shrinky dinks, and these great vintage honeycomb lamps. (Sharm, Mom says that these would match your bedroom.) They photograph a lot more yellow than I think that they are. All they need are some cute shades.
Of course, Jake was in the room when I decided to snap this photo. Ahh, the lamps under attack! Only in Jake's little world.
They also had the best vintage green double locker that was huge and only $12 but already sold. I would of loved that in my front room or downstairs in the family room or...well, I guess I can dream.
Now if I could just find that perfect entryway table...

Le Fabulous

I have to admit that Ryan and I are total dorks and go thrift shopping often. Thrift is such a nice word for it, isn't it?? Well today I made the trip to DI with the three kiddos and totally scored! I was beyond excited to see these Pottery Barn plaques that retail for $29.99 each for only $2 each!! TWO BUCKS EACH! Seriously excited and as a bonus, I really wanted these when they were in their catalog last year. Le darling, no?
And since it's now hot, hot, HOT! I bought a Slip N' Slide or maybe should be renamed "Run on it and maybe slide"-slide. Whatever works for you. Either way, it's been a blast and lots of friends were here to play on it. Mia's friend even packed a bag for the event. It was hilarious!! She brought sparkly shoes, a book, bracelets, mirror, sunglasses, sunscreen, jammies, towel a whole lot of other girly stuff. Her mom and I sat in the shade giggling over her cuteness as she pulled all of her gear out.

A few tidbits of cute.....

Ryan "a-tackling" Sam. "Atackle" is one of our favorite Jakey's made-up words. and baby giggles are addictive.

This birthday purse that I could not leave because it was only $1. It's fabric is like a carpet. Thus the name of carpet bag possibly? I honestly don't know what I would do with it, but I like it just as much as Ryan doesn't like it. But he let me get it anyway. Because it was my birthday. And it was a dollar.

Apparently, it's time for the lemonade/garage sale. Jake is the major sales man of the family and has been selling pencils all Winter long. When there is the slightest bit of sunshine, Jake is out there working the crowd of neighborhood kids. All three of them. Must remember to buy more cups. It's going to be a loooooong summer of sales.
