Boutique is Starting!!

The Mutton Hollow Country Barn Boutique is starting today!! That barn was stuffed to the max with lots of handmade goodness. Check it out and support handmade. Of course, tassels make a wonderful Mother's Day gift. And you'll want to get your organizing game on with my chalk cloth tags. Check out Megity's Handmade for more info!

Speaking of handmade, I got this sweet, darling, cute little cross stitch in the mail from In This Small House. I can't believe that I was so lucky to get it!! I put it on top of my bookshelf that needs to be painted someday soon along with my tulips Ryan got me for my birthday.

This little corner makes me happy!

FYI

Visit my other blog, Megity's Handmade, for a sneak peak of what I have been working on for the boutique! While you are at it, check out my Etsy shop before I close it for the week and see what you think about my brand spanking new banner that Jeff of S3Studio's whipped up for me. I love it! He's got talent I tell ya. I think that he made this with one hand tied behind his back while blindfolded.

Contradiction

Sam's into picking his own outfits. Mainly he choose the ever popular sport look. Basketball shorts and jersey. This day, he added the camo dress-up vest for some added texture, interest and I suppose warmth. Surprisingly, he's not sporting his winter boots.

Question? How can only obviously interested in sports little boy love Mia's make-up soooooo much??

A love that will trump the make-up card everytime? Baby 'Lo.

Welcome Home (two weeks ago) Bren!

Looking through my pictures, I found that a few pictures of my happy nephew Brendan that got home from his mission to Chile a few weeks back.

Teryn and Cort went to pick him up and had a wonderful time. We gathered at the airport to greet him back. It was so fun to see him and how much he has grown.

Brendan is the most uplifting, happy, energetic kid that I know. He's always first in line to help with anything. And the way he helps is effortlessly charming. He doesn't force himself to help, he doesn't do it by habit, just genuinely and charmingly helpful. Oh, and he's pretty darn handsome too!

(Brendan and little bro Landon)

It's been great to listen to him and his stories. To hear his accent and funny to see him struggle to find the right English word to explain himself. We love him so much and we are so grateful to have him home and have him as an example to my boys. Welcome home!!

Mia's Big Day!

The short story: Mia got her ears pierced! This is a huge deal for her. She keeps walking around, admiring herself saying that she is so excited that she got her ears "peered".

The long story: Ever since Mia was three, she has always admired pierced ears. She talked constantly about wanting hers done, picked out earrings for me to wear, critiqued the earrings that Aunt Dee! Dee! wore, picked out cards of earrings that she wanted me to buy her when she got her ears done, etc. etc. On and on she would go on about it nearly every day. But, the thought of it hurting was enough that she was not going to do it until she got bigger.
A few weeks back, she wore a pair of my clip-backed pierced earrings all day and bruised her sweet little ears. At the end of the day, she came and asked me if they were pierced and that she didn't care if it hurt because she was ready to have them done. She asked to go that Monday. She announced to everyone that she knew that she was ready.
I held her off for a week waiting for a time that just she and I could go and to make sure that Ryan and I were okay with it. Getting ears pierced is a huge deal on both sides of the family. They don't want it done at all. Ryan and I decided it was okay, she really, really wanted them. Finally, Friday came and Mia and I went to the mall together. "Can I please get my ears "peered" first mom?".
Mia knew the drill and hopped up in the chair grabbing the teddy bear to hold. She picked out the biggest pair of diamonds she could get of course. The ear piercing lady was fantastic with her and before we knew it, it was time. Mia was so brave. She wanted to sit on my lap while they did it. She didn't jump or cry. She was so brave! I was the one holding back the tears. She was thrilled and went around to each mirror in the store admiring her new earrings.
Then we went shopping and bought a new lip gloss for her, some cute new skirts from Children Place and played in the play area. Check out this pose of her with the cute matching necklace and bracelet.
She kept asking me if I was proud of her for being brave. She requested that I text everyone that we knew to tell them the big news!
It was the perfect girls day out. It was lots of fun and we are so very excited for her!

Yet Another Letter

Dear Dick's Market,

I accept your gift of an eclair and cake slice but now, your cake is added to the list of temptations. Do you really think that is fair?

Licking the crumbs,
Megan

A Letter

Dear Dick's Bakery,

Shame on you for making the best chocolate eclairs on the face of this planet. The same eclairs that remind me of my youth when my mother worked at the White House Reception Center and would bring us leftover mints, nut cups and those chocolate eclairs with peach colored flowers piped on them. Mmm...those chocolate eclairs. Oh my memories of the White House Reception Center.

Lush carpet (was it green?), the cascading steps for the bride's entrance where I pretended I was the bride, the dumb waiter, Aqua Net on the shelf and the fastest dishwasher on the face of the earth downstairs in the stainless steel kitchen. And eclairs. Oh, the eclairs! No temple mint, nut cup or trip down the stairs could ever compare to your creamy, sugary, chocolaty goodness.

Do you see what you have done Dick's Bakery?? Do you understand the depth of the temptation that you now present to me? Shame on you. Or should I shame the sweet girl at work that brought them for her crop night class. The same girl that taunts me with her homemade goods and Spinach Artichoke dips. Just one glance at those eclairs and it was all over for me. Memories flooding, my taste buds yearning for the tickle of chocolate. Going to work reminds me of those chocolate eclairs.

Don't you see what you have done Dick's? Shamelessly flaunting yourself to a sugar addict with fond memories. My only defense was that you weren't too close to my house but now you have gone and opened up another store just minutes away. My defense is weakening. Oh the shame. Shame, shame, shame.

With my regards,
A Sugar Addict
Megan
PS: I'll see you Saturday night.

Sore. So sore.

Usually when I have a deadline (big boutique at the end of the month) I can't seem to focus on the project at hand. (You know, make a billion things to fill my booth so I can actually pay for the costs of the boutique.) But my work space, it just wasn't cutting it. Imagine a room where a bomb of crafting, scrapbooking, tasseling, reading and computering stuff has exploded. Now times that by ten and you may have a visual of our room. I couldn't stand it anymore. It had to be cleaned. It had to be a space that I could work in.

I had spent the morning complaining to Kem that I should really be doing XYZ but all I wanted to do was project overhaul. Mid-conversation, I wonder why I wasn't going to do it and decided that I could. I'm tough, right? Right?? Fast-forward to me moving all of the furniture myself and cursing my weak little self for not waiting for the muscles to help. Why was everything so heavy? I realized something very important about myself:

Tough I am not, determined I am.

Finally, after hours of moving, removing and moving one more time, stopping for a parent-teacher conference, visiting teaching visit and babysitting for the night oh, and forgetting about a meeting, I figured it out. A new work space that is looking like it might function a lot better than the old one. Feels much better than the bombed room that it was even though it still sports throw up carpet, wood paneling and pink and blue floral wallpaper. The pretty it up part is going to have to wait. I am too sore from moving all that furniture!
So are you wondering where the big reveal pictures are now?? Sorry, no pictures today. Still working on Mission Organization. Need something to look at?? Visit Megity's Handmade and see my primer white mantel! Oh, and some fun Easter tassels too.
